Thimma Mathomme!

Thimma Mathomme!, translating to 'Thimma, Once Again!' in English, is an open-ended children's story written by Murugappan Meiyappan.
The story is about Raji, a cat thief, and the bane of her existence, Thimma, who keeps resurfacing in her life no matter how much she tries to shake him off.
The author’s vision was to hand over an incomplete story to children, with a few blank pages at the end, and encourage them to finish the book themselves.
This iterative format of the story dictated my visual style for this book. I designed it to emulate the texture and feel of coloured pencil drawings. I chose the illustration style to be childlike, with wobbly lines and visible pencil strokes, so that children could be encouraged to pick up coloured pencils they already have at home and finish their story without feeling intimidated.
