Artist book, hand-bound with embroidery thread
30 pages, 9"x6"
2024-2025
When you're a self-taught artist, it's the small stuff you sweat. You have the ideas and the talent, but the practical details trip you up: Where do I start? Which steps come first? How much time does each part take? Is my to-do list missing something crucial? What’s that technique called? And then, of course, the dreaded realisation: oh no, I hadn’t thought of this before—what do I do now?
When I began my first large-scale project, ‘Mapping Memories: The Lost Spaces of Yelahanka’, these were the thoughts swimming in my head. I just wished I could look inside an experienced artist’s notebook or watch them problem-solve in their studio—to see the mistakes, the chaos, and the process that comes before the "perfect" final piece.
This book, full of my experiments, rough drawings, and notes, is my way of letting you into that intimate space. It’s not a step-by-step guide or a complete picture of how I made the project. Instead, it’s a collection of glimpses—playful, candid snippets of the process.
